This is a spreadsheet that contains the metadata information for 80 greater gliders from 5 locations (2 in N Qld, 1 in central Qld and 2 in Victoria). Each row contains information on an individual greater glider and is identified by a specimen identification as well as an ID number and plate locations related to genetic analysis. The data includes what population the glider was sampled from, including the location, region and latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates. Specific to each individual animal the data set includes sex, maturity, body mass, color variation, testes size, skull length, skull width, body length, tail length, total length, knee to heel length, ear length and ear width. While still under sedation, captured individuals were weighed and sexed, and reproductive status was assessed. As part of a separate study , external measurements were taken with vernier calipers using external jaws to measure head length (tip of snout to occipital bone protuberance), head width (widest part of one zygomatic arch to the analogous location on the other side of the head), ear width (widest part of the ear when flattened), ear length (from tragus to the outermost edge of the ear, excluding fur), and knee to heal-hind limb (top of knee to base of the heel with limb flexed to ninety degrees). Body length (occipital bone protuberance to the base of the tail, following the spine, with head in-line with the plane of the body) and tail length (cloaca to the tip of the tail, excluding fur) were measured with a flexible tape measure. Two addtional files contaiin the R script used for the analysis of the genetic and morphological data.
