Data for "Diel movement patterns in nominally nocturnal coral reef fishes (Haemulidae and Lutjanidae): Intra vs. Interspecific variation"

This is acoustic telemetry data for the publication "Diel movement patterns in nominally nocturnal coral reef fishes (Haemulidae and Lutjanidae): Intra vs. Interspecific variation". The record contains the data and code to reproduce the figures for this publication. This data was collected initially to assess the shelter use patterns of large reef fishes (https://doi.org/10.1007/s00338-017-1604-7). However, it was used in this publication to assess the diel movement patterns of Haemulidae and Lutjanidae.

This data record contains:

One .zip folder which consists of seven “.csv” data files, three “.kml” map files, one “.R” file to be used as a source code for reading in the map files, and one “.R” file and subsequent “.Rproj” file. In order to re-run any construction of figures or analysis please open the “.Rproj” file and run each line sequentially. A README is included in the .zip which containts a description of each item

Software/equipment used to create/collect the data: Data was collected using 16 passive acoustic receivers (Vemco VR2 W, 16 kHz) and acoustic transmitter (Vemco V7-4x, random delay interval 190–290 s, power output 146 dB re 1 μPa at 1 m). Telemetry data were first inspected in the VUE software (Vemco, Halifax, Canada) and any spurious or false detections were removed prior to analysis following Simpfendorfer et al. (2015). The zip folder contains all of the code and data to be able to reproduce the figures from this publication.

Software/equipment used to manipulate/analyse the data: Data manipulation and analysis will be done using R and Rstudio.
